The Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship, named for the renowned businessman and philanthropist who headed The Coca-Cola Company for many years and gave generously to Emory University, is the founding and signature scholarship of the Emory Scholars Program.
The Scholars Program seeks individuals who are motivated to be agents of positive social change across the broad spectrum of society—research and discovery, arts and culture, policy and justice work, and innovation and entrepreneurship. We select applicants who demonstrate significant promise in developing the Scholars Qualities and who show aptitude for and interest in working to improve their communities.
The Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship is awarded each year and is renewable for up to a total of eight regular academic semesters (fall and spring) of undergraduate study at Emory College of Arts and Sciences. The scholarship includes full tuition, fees, and on-campus room and meals.
The Emory Scholars Program provides a community of peers, a substantial slate of annual programming including multi-day trips and an off-site retreat, specialized advising and mentoring, access to summer funding for international experiences and unpaid internships, a lounge, priority registration and housing selection, and much more.
Robert W. Woodruff Scholars are also part of a larger community of Woodruff Scholars and Fellows that exist across all the Colleges and Schools within Emory University. Robert W. Woodruff Scholars participate in events that bring together all campus Woodruff Scholars and Fellows for networking and community building.
Alongside the standard Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship, the Scholars Program includes four focused Woodruff Scholarships with additional selection criteria, and in some cases, additional expectations for those scholars.
