Grounded. Growing. Giving.

Scholars take root at Emory. We provide everything you need to grow; a merit-based scholarship, exceptional programming and opportunities for growth, and engagement with peers, faculty, and alumni, all of which support you in reaching your full potential.

As an Emory Scholar, you will be a valuable contributor to the Emory community, developing skills that are critical to making positive impacts in your community, your profession and the world.

For over 35 years Emory has searched for talented Scholars with high potential to invest in, starting with the Robert W. Woodruff Scholars in 1981. The Emory Scholars Program focuses on finding individuals with outstanding academic success who are grounded in the Scholar Qualities of intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, servant leadership, communication skills, and contribution to community.

The Emory Scholars Program is unique in allowing its Scholars many choices in both programming and opportunities, so that Scholars can engage in what aligns most with their personal growth, goals, and career plans. Scholars also benefit tremendously from the many chances for meaningful engagement with Scholar peers and Scholar Alumni, Emory faculty, and community members. All Emory Scholars receive a merit-based scholarship such as the signature Robert W. Woodruff Scholarship or one of our other scholarships.

“Living the Legacy” of Robert W. Woodruff through giving is an integral part of the Emory Scholars Program. Scholars engage in the campus community and beyond, giving of their time, energy, and talents to better the lives of others.
