Upcoming Faculty & Staff Headshot Days

What to Expect from Your Headshot

Each participant will receive a high-resolution professional portrait that can be used across multiple platforms, including:

  • Department and faculty profile pages
  • Web banners and digital features
  • Promotional and communications materials

Images will be delivered with one primary crop optimized for headshot use, while maintaining enough resolution to support additional web applications.

Tips & Best Practices

The tips below will help you prepare for your upcoming session.

Clothing Selection

  • Choose solid colors. Opt for classic, solid hues such as navy, burgundy, charcoal, or emerald green. Avoid bold patterns, logos, or highly textured fabrics, which can distract from your face.
  • Ensure proper fit. Clothing should be well-fitted—neither too tight nor too loose—for a polished, professional appearance.
  • Keep accessories minimal. Simple, understated jewelry photographs best and keeps the focus on you.

Grooming and Personal Care

  • Hair: Wear your hair as you normally would in professional settings. If planning a haircut or color, schedule it at least one week prior to your session for the most natural look.
  • Makeup: Aim for a natural, professional finish. Neutral tones photograph well and help maintain a timeless appearance.

Rest and Wellness

  • Sleep: Aim for 7–8 hours of rest the night before your session to look refreshed.
  • Hydration: Drinking water in advance helps support healthy skin and reduces under-eye puffiness.

Glasses

  • Eyewear: If you regularly wear glasses, you may choose to include them in your portrait. If possible, remove them briefly before your session to avoid marks on the bridge of your nose.

Final Preparations

  • Clothing care: Ensure your outfit is clean, pressed, and free of lint or pet hair.
  • Arrive camera-ready: Sessions are scheduled in brief time slots, so arriving prepared helps ensure a smooth and efficient experience.
