International Student Welcome

Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to Emory College of Arts and Sciences!

What is International Student Welcome?

The International Student Welcome (ISW) is a special pre-orientation program designed for students that have grown up primarily or exclusively outside the United States. Incoming first-year and transfer students attending Emory on an F1 visa are required to attend. Incoming students who are green card holders, dual citizens, and who attended high school abroad are also invited to attend. Sophomores on an F1 visa who were not able to come to campus during the 2020-21 academic year are also invited to attend. The ISW provides these students with additional information not included in general orientation that we feel will help them transition more easily to Emory and life in the U.S.

When is the International Student Welcome?

The ISW will be held from Tuesday, August 17, 2021 through Friday, August 20, 2021. Move-in day will be Tuesday, August 17. More details about Move-in will be posted here as they become available.

How can I register for the International Student Welcome?

In order to attend, pre-registration is required. You can access the registration form below. Registration closes on Friday, July 30, 2021.

Is International Student Welcome required?

It is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students attending Emory on an F1 visa. Because international identity is not necessarily defined by citizenship, we welcome green card holders, dual citizens, and those who attended high school abroad, but it is not required for these students.

Is there a cost to attend the International Student Welcome?

Yes, there is a $240 fee to attend the ISW. This fee covers food and other costs associated with the program. It will be charged to your student account in the fall semester.

2021 ISW Schedule:

This will be shared once it is finalized.

ISW participants will be assigned to a small group led by 2 Academic Fellow mentors that will guide them through the programming each day and will also serve as mentors throughout the Fall 2021 semester. Academic Fellows are current students who have been trained to provide support and guidance for incoming international students.
