Who We Are

The Office of Research Funding Support (ORFS) works to increase the profile and support of the research and scholarship of Emory College faculty and students. ORFS oversees the process to award internal grants such as PERS (Program to Enhance Research and Scholarship) and supports faculty in their interactions with central university units to secure and support funding sources. Read more about ORFS.

The Undergraduate Global Research Fellowship (UGF) supports ECAS and Oxford College students conducting extended research outside the continental United States. Offered by the Halle Institute for Global Research and Learning in partnership with Pathways Center Internship Funding, the program will award up to 12 fellowships to eligible rising juniors and Oxford students matriculating to ECAS.

Fellows may receive up to $1,000 from the Halle Institute, in addition to Pathways funding of up to $3,000 (domestic) or $4,000 (global). Applicants must apply to the Halle UGF and Pathways programs concurrently.

Selected students participate in research workshops led by the Halle Institute, enroll in URP 499R, and complete a minimum of 240 research hours over at least 8 weeks. Research funding may be used between the end of Spring 2026 exams and the start of Fall 2026 classes. Upon completion, fellows submit their honors thesis or capstone project acknowledging Halle Institute support.

If you qualify, you may apply at any point in the academic year, by submitting the following materials to Anita Corbett, Senior Associate Dean for Research.

  1. Requested amount (up to $25,000) with a budget and budget justification.
  2. Current CV.
  3. Reviews and scores from a current proposal that has not been funded.
  4. Plans for submission of a revised application of the current proposal or a new funding application.
