Ronald L. Calabrese (Ron) received his Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Stanford University in 1975. He joined the Department of Biology in 1986 after completing postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley and UC San Diego and a faculty appointment at Harvard University.
His research focuses on the motor pattern formation by the nervous system and combines electrophysiological and computational approaches. He joined the central College office in 2015 as Senior Associate Dean for Research, where he coordinates efforts to promote and support research by the faculty in the Arts and Sciences. He also works with the Office for Undergraduate Education to promote research by Emory College students.
As Senior Associate Dean for Research, Dean Calabrese works to increase the profile of the research and scholarship of Emory College faculty, staff, and students. He oversees the Office of Research Funding and Support (ORFS) and serves as the College Office’s primary liaison to University offices of research administration.
