The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. Think of them as paid, summer internships doing research with scholars throughout the U.S. and in some international locations. Awards are typically available in most STEM fields, social and behavioral sciences, business, education, and ethics. REUs are paid, and sometimes cover additional expenses like housing and travel to/from the REU location. 

Ideal for students in first, second, or third year of undergraduate studies.Previous research experience not required. United States citizenship is required for most, but not all, REUs.

Because this award does not require Emory nomination, you do not need to go through our office to submit an application. However, we are available to support you with application preparation or other questions. To receive feedback on your NSF REU application(s), you must begin the advising process at least one month before the deadline for your intended program(s).This is to ensure we have ample time to support your application, and you have ample time to revise materials.
