Social Justice Fellows: Faculty Applications Now Open

Emory Arts and the Center for Ethics are excited to announce the call for faculty participation in the 2021-22 cohort of the Emory Arts & Social Justice Fellows program. The deadline to apply for the 2021-22 cohort is Friday, June 4. Further information about the program and how to apply can be found on the project website, www.emoryasj.org.

Launched in the summer of 2020 amidst a global pandemic and a national reckoning on race, the program pairs six Emory faculty with six Atlanta artists to inspire conversations about race, equity, and social justice through the medium of creative collaboration. Faculty participants will partner with artists to design and incorporate creative projects into an existing fall class on any subject.

Artist fellows receive a summer stipend and salary in the fall. Faculty/artist partnerships are provided with funds to support the development and completion of creative projects. Contact Kevin Karnes, associate dean for the arts, with any questions about the program.

Lecture-Track Faculty Promotion Names Due June 1

The 2021-2022 review process for promotion from lecturer to senior lecturer begins soon. Chairs and directors should email dean_of_faculty@emory.edu by Tuesday, June 1, with the names of any faculty from their departments or programs who wish to be reviewed for promotion to senior lecturer during the upcoming academic year. More information about the promotion process and deadlines is available here.

Performance Evaluations

Faculty Evaluations Due May 21

Department chairs and program directors should complete their department Faculty Evaluations in Interfolio RPT by this Friday, May 21. Any notes of special salary consideration or performance concern should be sent to ECAS-Merit@emory.edu. Faculty receiving promotions will receive a salary increase determined by the College. The College will distribute any general merit depending upon available funds.

Staff Performance Evaluations Due June 4

All department chairs, program directors and other staff supervisors are reminded to complete and submit online, via HR PeopleSoft, their department and program staff evaluations by Friday, June 4. Requests for new or reinstated staff lines, staff reclassifications, equity reviews and/or promotions of staff should be sent to ECAS-merit@emory.edu using the “ECAS Staff Reclassification, Promotion or Staff Line Request Form” found on our website.

Department and Program Reporting System Open Until June 30

The Online Annual Report System (OARS) for departments and programs is now open and will close on Wednesday, June 30. Your departmental report is available here. We understand that you may need to streamline your approach for department-level reporting this year. If you have trouble accessing OARS, please contact Marc Theune at OARS System Administrator. Vice Provost for Libraries and Museum Search: Faculty Feedback Wanted

As Interim Provost Love announced earlier this semester, Emory is launching a search for a new Vice Provost for Libraries and Museum with Dean Michael A. Elliott chairing the search advisory committee.

The committee has gathered feedback through listening sessions, and several members of the faculty are serving on the search advisory committee. However, as the committee works to finalize the leadership profile and begin recruiting candidates over the summer, all faculty are invited to provide input as soon as possible on the search via the executive search website. All comments will be shared with the search committee, as well as the executive search firm that is assisting us with the process. In addition, members of the faculty are welcome to submit nominations via EmoryLibrariesandMuseum@wittkeiffer.com.

Nominate Students for Dean's Achievement Scholarship

Did you have a remarkable first-year student in class this year? Encourage them to apply for the Dean’s Achievement Scholarship! The DAS process allows rising sophomores in Emory College or Oxford to apply for the Woodruff DAS, which provides a full scholarship, and other merit-based Dean’s Achievement Scholarships of various amounts. This year’s application deadline is Wednesday, August 1. Please direct students to the Emory College Woodruff Scholars Program website for detailed information about eligibility and the application process.

CFDE to Host Book Project Discussion Group

This summer the Center for Faculty Development and Excellence will host a very informal discussion group for faculty who are working through the end of one major writing project and the beginning of the next. We will talk about what makes sense between big writing projects; provide a sounding board for one another’s ideas and help shape and refine them; and generally talk about new project development.

All faculty are welcome! If you are interested, please register and CFDE will contact you to set up a schedule. This group will be primarily Zoom-based, but if participants are local, fully vaccinated, and willing, we may also incorporate a few in-person sessions. Please register at this link: Between Books Summer Discussion Group 2021.

University Vaccination Tracking

The university is diligently creating plans and guidelines for our return to campus this fall. Health and safety remain a priority and will impact the decision-making process. Emory is tracking faculty, staff, and students vaccinated through Emory Healthcare on the COVID-19 dashboard. If you received your COVID-19 vaccine outside of the Emory system, please upload your vaccine card to the Emory H.O.M.E health portal. This information will ensure we have an accurate representation of our vaccinated community.

Get Your Vaccine

All faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to get a vaccine and can follow the registration process outlined below. Please remember that scheduling appointments are subject to vaccine availability.

Registration Process for Faculty and Staff: You may sign into your Employee Health Portal and complete your COVID-19 vaccination consent. After your vaccination consent is complete, and when appointments are available, you will receive an email from noreplywebchart@med-web.com where a link will be provided to schedule your appointment through Emory Healthcare.

Check the Emory Forward site regularly for the latest information on vaccine availability and distribution for the Emory community.
