Students graduating from Emory College of Arts and Sciences and/or participating in Emory Commencement should carefully review the information below.
Students are responsible for ensuring all graduation requirements, as listed in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Catalog, are complete by the end of their last term in the College. Students can track their progress towards degree in OPUS or by contacting their major department.
Students must apply to graduate. At the start of the expected graduation term, a student will receive a link to the Online Graduation Application. Students can refer to the Graduation Application Guidelines for further information, checklist, and required documents to complete the application.
The deadlines for degree application are term specific and can be found on the website for the Office of the Registrar.
Application review and certification occurs after the deadline by the Office for Undergraduate Education. Our team will only contact you if we have questions about your application.
All Commencement program and event information is available on the University Commencement Website, which also provides information on student regalia and preparation information, local attraction information, and details of inclement weather plans in the event of poor weather conditions.
All Commencement-related communications are sent to the Emory email address for degree applicants. Students are encouraged to check their university email regularly for commencement updates, event information, and relevant logistical information.
Commencement (and the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Diploma Ceremony) for the Class of 2023 will take place on Monday, May 8, 2023.
Guests will require tickets for the Main University Ceremony.
Tickets will not be required for the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Diploma Ceremony under normal operating conditions. In the event of severe weather, we may be required to move the diploma ceremony indoors. In this event, tickets will be required and students will receive appropriate communications and QR tickets for their guests.
Graduating seniors are eligible to participate in summer study abroad. Students can defer graduation until the end of the summer to receive financial aid or to complete final requirements to graduation. Students who defer graduation are still eligible to walk with their class with permission from the Office for Undergraduate Education. Emory summer study abroad courses would count toward the cumulative GPA. Students currently receiving financial aid or a courtesy scholarship would remain eligible.
Visit the Study Abroad website for more details.
