Graduation Requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring all graduation requirements, as listed in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Catalog, are complete by the end of their last term in the College. Students can track their progress towards degree in OPUS or by contacting their major department.

Graduation Application

Students must apply to graduate. At the start of the expected graduation term, a student will receive a link to the Online Graduation Application. Students can refer to the Graduation Application Guidelines for further information, checklist, and required documents to complete the application.

The deadlines for degree application are term specific and can be found on the website for the Office of the Registrar.

Application review and certification occurs after the deadline by the Office for Undergraduate Education. Our team will only contact you if we have questions about your application.

Senior Portal
Students who plan to graduate should review the Senior Portal (login required) for information on graduation, commencement and post-graduation services. The portal will also provide personalized graduation status updates as they become available.

Commencement

All Commencement program and event information is available on the University Commencement Website, which also provides information on student regalia and preparation information, local attraction information, and details of inclement weather plans in the event of poor weather conditions.

All Commencement-related communications are sent to the Emory email address for degree applicants. Students are encouraged to check their university email regularly for commencement updates, event information, and relevant logistical information.

Commencement (and the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Diploma Ceremony) for the Class of 2023 will take place on Monday, May 8, 2023.

Commencement Frequently Asked Questions

How do I update my diploma address and when will I receive my diploma?
For questions regarding your diploma, check out our diploma FAQs.
Do my parents/guests need tickets for commencement?

Guests will require tickets for the Main University Ceremony.

Tickets will not be required for the Emory College of Arts and Sciences Diploma Ceremony under normal operating conditions. In the event of severe weather, we may be required to move the diploma ceremony indoors. In this event, tickets will be required and students will receive appropriate communications and QR tickets for their guests.

May I study abroad during the summer semester after Commencement?

Graduating seniors are eligible to participate in summer study abroad. Students can defer graduation until the end of the summer to receive financial aid or to complete final requirements to graduation. Students who defer graduation are still eligible to walk with their class with permission from the Office for Undergraduate Education. Emory summer study abroad courses would count toward the cumulative GPA. Students currently receiving financial aid or a courtesy scholarship would remain eligible.

Visit the Study Abroad website for more details.

Is disability seating available?

Students: If you are a student with a documented disability and require accommodation in order to fully participate in Commencement activities, please submit a request for accommodation form. Requests for accommodation should be made no later than April 15, 2022.

Guests: If you are inquiring about accommodations for a guest, please find wheelchair rental information located on the University Commencement Website or contact commencement-info@emory.edu with questions.

Where can I view or purchase photographs from the Emory College Diploma Ceremony or Honors Ceremony?

Emory College works with commencement photography specialists GradImages to photograph graduates during Commencement events. GradImages will contact graduates directly in the week after Commencement. Proofs and information on viewing the photographs of the Emory College Diploma Ceremony (and, in some cases, Honors Ceremony) will be mailed to the student’s home address of record, as well as to the permanent email address provided by the student.
