3. Financial Aid Q & A
Sorry, the deadline for applying for financial aid has passed. But, we are still accepting applications for admission to the program.
Financial aid award letters have been mailed to students who applied by the financial aid deadline. If awards are not accepted, funds may become available, and we may accept additional scholarship applications at a later date. If you want to be considered for any funding that may become available, your application for admission must be complete.
Who is eligible for financial aid? How do I qualify?
- Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
- Applicants must complete and submit all admission materials.
- Applicants must complete and submit the Pre-College financial aid application form.
- 2008 (or estimated 2009) parent tax returns must accompany the Pre-College Program financial aid application.
Financial aid is not available to international students.
Are the scholarship awards need-based or merit-based?
Emory attracts academically motivated and qualified students. We recognize the need for scholarship funds for high school students interested in academic study during the summer. However, due to limited funds available, awards will be primarily based on need, and academic merit will be a secondary consideration. Your financial aid application will be reviewed and your academic record, including grade point average, test scores, and faculty/guidance counselor recommendation will be taken into consideration.
I am not sure if my parents’ income makes me eligible. Is it worth it to complete the Pre-College Program application?
Financial aid is limited. Partial scholarships may be awarded to those students who demonstrate need and qualify for available funds. Awards may be offered to students and families who demonstrate financial need based on income, household size, cost of attendance and information reported and verified on the Pre-College Program financial aid application. In any case, please note the partial scholarship will not cover the entire program costs.
How much will I receive?
Awards will be approximately $300-$900, depending upon need and academic merit. Awards will not cover the full program cost.
What is the deadline to apply and be considered for a partial scholarship?
All admission and financial materials must be complete and received by February 19, 2010. We encourage you to apply early. The scholarship deadline will be strictly adhered to so awards can be offered before the tuition deposit and payment deadlines.
