One of our key priorities in the Office for Undergraduate Education is to ensure that our students are on track academically and to assist in situations where students have run into unexpected difficulties.
All Emory College students are assigned a professional academic advisor in the Office for Undergraduate Education (OUE). OUE Advisors assist students with course planning, degree progress, and navigating challenges or concerns that may occur, and can provide referrals to appropriate campus partners to aid students in resolving concerns. The OUE advisor assists students throughout their time at Emory College.
When students declare a major in Emory College, they are then also assigned a faculty major advisor in their chosen field of study. Faculty major advisors assist students with course selection and degree planning for their major field requirements. They can also provide guidance to students regarding career opportunities and application to graduate or professional schools.
Emory College offers a dual degree program in engineering with the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a dual degree in nursing with Emory’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Emory also offers a number of joint Bachelor’s-Master’s Degree Programs.

Students should declare their intended major by the second semester of their second year. Typically this occurs before the Declaration of Major deadline (usually the third week in February.) Students are eligible to change their major after this date but their initial declaration is required by this time.
Students are eligible to declare up to two concentrations in Emory College of Arts and Sciences although only one major is required. This means a student may declare one major, two majors, or a major and a minor.
To declare (or remove) a major or minor, complete the Declaration of Major Form in OPUS (under the Course Planning and Enrollment tile).
Once you have submitted the form you will receive an email with directions to contact the appropriate academic department for next step information. Changes to your major/minor in OPUS will not occur until these steps have been completed.
Students are required to make adequate progress toward graduation each semester they are enrolled. Policies relating to graduation, and continuation are part of the Emory College Catalog.
