Garett Heysel is Associate Dean for the Office of International and Summer Programs in Emory College of Arts and Sciences. His office is responsible for Emory College study abroad, summer, and online academic programs.
Prior to joining Emory in September 2020, he was senior associate director of the University Honors and Scholars Center at The Ohio State University, and then Assistant Dean and Director of Global Education of the College of Arts and Sciences where he was responsible for curriculum in Arts and Humanities and internationalization across the college.
Heysel has taught at Connecticut College, Utah State University, and Lycoming College where he was associate professor and chair of modern language studies. Heysel was also dean of the French Language Village at Concordia Language Villages in Minnesota for 14 summers. His research interests involve the intersections of queer desire and corporeal representation in avant-garde art, popular press, film and literature and he has published in the areas of 19th and 20th-century French literature, culture, and film.
