Sally Gouzoules is the Associate Dean for International and Summer Programs in Emory College of Arts and Sciences (OISP). In this role, she oversees the staff involved in the planning and administration of all Emory College study abroad programs as well as all summer academic programs offered on Emory campus, including Maymester, Summer School, and Pre-College programs. OISP is currently working with faculty to incorporate online courses into the summer school curriculum. Dr. Gouzoules comes to this position from the Anthropology Department where she served as both Associate Chair and, for several years, Director of Undergraduate Studies. She is also a faculty member in the Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology program where she has served on the Executive Committee. She is a past Chair of both the Education Abroad Committee and the Educational Policy Committee in Emory College, and has a longstanding interest in promoting study abroad opportunities for undergraduates as well as online education. Dr. Gouzoules earned her Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago and did postdoctoral work at Rockefeller University before coming to Emory. Her research has focused on the communication systems of nonhuman primates, especially macaque monkeys, and the evolution of social behavior and language.
