Peer Led Mentor Groups, based on Collaborative Learning, an instruction method in which students work in groups toward a common academic goal, provide an opportunity for students to work together to explore important concepts, review class notes, discuss reading assignments, practice test-taking strategies, and prepare of examinations. Sessions are facilitated by an undergraduate student recommended by faculty and trained in group faciliatation skills.

"Collaborative learning is based on the idea that learning is a naturally social act in which the participants talk among themselves (Gerlach, 1994). It is through the talk that learning occurs."
