Catalog Description: Fall or spring. In Italian. Intensive study of a single author, genre, literary movement, or period. Topic to be announced in advance. May be repeated for credit when topic varies. Prerequisite: Italian 312 or permission of program director.

Semester Details:

Content: This course provides a survey of Italian society today and help the students
to a better understanding of its diverse manifestations in various cultural
fields: literature, pop culture and cinema. Through a series of authentic
readings and movies, students will examine the current trends of the Italian
family, the features of the young generations, the role of women in Italian
society, the tensions between north and south, religion and Italian fashion
and music. This class is taught entirely in Italian.

Assessment: Quizzes, response papers, presentation and final paper.
