Protocol for addressing concerns about students
You may email academic.advising@learnlink.emory.edu with concerns about a student. This email address is monitored during normal business days, and we will follow up on each situation.
Depending on the situation of the student you identify, we may contact the student to schedule an appointment, check with other professors about the attendance and performance in other courses, and/or contact Campus Life to check on the student’s safety and well-being.
Please include the following information in your email:
- Student name
- Student ID number
- Course name and number (if applicable)
- Your name, department, and preferred contact information
- Nature of your concern
- Most recent date of contact with the student
- Student’s attendance and performance in your class (if applicable)
If you feel you need to talk with someone directly about the student’s situation, please call one of the class deans listed below, or call the front desk in the Office for Undergraduate Education (404-727-6069) to be connected with an academic adviser or dean.
If you are concerned about the immediate health and safety of a student, particularly if it is after business hours, please contact the Emory Police (727-6111). You may also walk a student to the Counseling Center during business hours.
An academic adviser will review the case and contact the student within 1 business day. After the adviser has contacted the student, the adviser will provide you with an update. In the event that the adviser is unable to get in touch with the student, s/he will contact Campus Life and the student’s class dean.
