No Assignment Week March 15-19, Rest Day March 16

All faculty are strongly encouraged to adhere to the March 15-19 “No Assignment Week,” which includes the next rest day on Tuesday, March 16. The rest day should be treated as a holiday, i.e., no class meetings, assignments due, asynchronous assignments, out-of-class screenings, etc. should take place. During the rest of the week, synchronous class sessions will be held; however, faculty should not give exams or assign graded work outside of class hours. Questions about this can be directed to oue.facultysupport@emory.edu.

Emory College Online Resources

Gather Anonymous Student feedback

If you have not already checked in with your students to gauge how online teaching and learning is going this semester, the Emory College Online team encourages you to do so. We have prepared an Anonymous Student Course Check-In form that you may adapt for your courses (access instructions for deploying the survey through either Microsoft Forms/OneDrive or Google Forms). You may distribute this form as a one-time survey, or it may be left open to collect anonymous feedback throughout the semester.

Retain Your Zoom Recordings

Beginning this week, the Zoom administrators will begin to reduce the days that cloud recordings are retained from 180 to 150 days. This means that recordings from fall 2020 will soon be due for deletion (you will receive an automated email from Zoom anytime a cloud recording is being deleted). While most instructors will not need to retain synchronous class session recordings beyond the relevant semester, you should download and retain any Zoom cloud recordings that you’d like to use for future courses (asynchronous content recordings, expert interviews, etc.).

This resource explains the process for downloading Zoom cloud recordings and saving them using Canvas Studio. You may also save your downloaded Zoom recordings in OneDrive (instructions). Learn more about Managing and Sharing Zoom Recordings. You may recover a Zoom cloud recording up to 30 days after it has been deleted.

Tenure and Pre-Tenure Review Process Deadline

The 2021-2022 pre-tenure and tenure review processes begin soon. Chairs should contact dean_of_faculty@emory.edu by Thursday, April 1 with the names of any faculty from their departments who will be completing a pre-tenure or tenure review during the upcoming academic year.

Schedule Your COVID-19 Screening Test

All faculty and staff who are coming to campus regularly are strongly encouraged to schedule a weekly test. Faculty and staff who are considering returning to campus periodically this semester, including coming to campus for a screening test, still need to onboard.

Click here to schedule your on-campus screening appointment. This simple saliva test is highly accurate, with results coming by email in less than 48 hours. There are four testing locations: WoodPEC, Emory Conference Center, SAAC, and Goizueta Business School. The Emory Forward site has information about the testing program and a link at the bottom that you can also use to schedule a test.
