Human Resources: End-of-Semester Reminders

Department Chairs: Online merit recommendations for your department faculty need to be completed by Friday, May 19.  System site: https://athena.as.emory.edu/Merit. Requests for new staff lines, reclassifications, or promotions for staff need to be submitted to ECAS-Merit@emory.edu by Friday, May 19.

Staff Supervisors: Online staff evaluations need to be complete in the HR PeopleSoft system by Friday, May 19. System access site: http://leo.cc.emory.edu

Employee of the Year Nominations Due May 15

The Emory College Employee of the Year Award serves to recognize one employee each year for exceptional contributions to Emory College. Any current College regular staff member with 24 months of continuous service is eligible for nomination. A downloadable application is available on the College Staff Consortium website. Applications are due Friday, May 15, and should be sent to cscboard@emory.edu.

Canvas Migration

All faculty must migrate their course materials into Canvas. The University’s Blackboard license will expire this summer and all material currently stored on Blackboard will no longer be available. After Aug. 31, 2017, there will be no way to recover deleted or un-exported data from Blackboard. Information on how to export materials to Canvas can be found at http://it.emory.edu/canvas/training/blackboard-export.html. PACE Information Due June 9

The Pre-Major Advising Connections at Emory (PACE) program is currently collecting information from departments about who will be serving as Pre-Major Faculty Advisors this fall for first-year students in the Class of 2021. PACE Liaison worksheets (including the list of faculty advisors, their office numbers and advising status) are due Friday, June 9, and should be sent to PACE assistant director Tina McDowell at tmcdowe@emory.edu.

Pre-Major Faculty Advisor assignments will be made and posted in OPUS by Friday, August 11, 2017. All Pre-Major Faculty Advisors will be expected to advise on Monday, August 21 from 10 a.m.-1p.m. If you have any questions please contact PACE director Shari Obrentz at sobrent@emory.edu or Tina McDowell at tmcdowe@emory.edu.

Faculty advisors and liaisons meetings will take place August 15-16, and a reminder will be sent in early August.

Staff Fest and CSC Picnic

The annual University-wide Staff Fest will be held from 12 p.m.-3 p.m., Friday, May 12, on the University Quad, with games, music, dancing, and food. Get full details on all events on the Staff Fest website

The College Staff Consortium Staff Appreciation Picnic will be held Friday, May 19 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the Glenn Memorial Lawn (rain location: PAIS lobby, 36 Eagle Row). Enjoy great food, music, and games, as well as a demonstration by a trainer from Blomeyer. Bring non-perishable food items for the Atlanta Food Bank to receive raffle tickets for prizes.

Undergraduate Experience Initiative Website

Emory University is working collectively and comprehensively on all aspects of the student experience through the Emory Undergraduate Experience Initiative, an Office of the President project, to attract and retain the best students for the University and ensure an optimal undergraduate experience. The Initiative recently launched a new website to share information and updates, and provide opportunity for feedback. The site can be found at https://secure.web.emory.edu/experience/index.html, and will require your Emory login information to access it.

Academic Department Website Survey

The Emory College Office of Communications will send a survey to department administrators May 22 to gather broad input on the website needs and wants of academic departments. This important information will help guide the redesign of new templates as part of the ongoing upgrade of Emory College websites. 

Faculty & Staff Resources

The Emory College website offers the Faculty & Staff page for quick access to College offices, programs and policies, as well as common University resources. If you have suggestions for additional links that would serve faculty and staff needs, email Beverly Clark, director of communications for Emory College.

Website Training for College Departments

The Emory College Office of Communications will hold Cascade web training sessions during June and July, for Arts and Sciences staff and faculty who maintain department websites:

    June 14, 2 - 4 p.m.
  • Cascade Basic Training for Beginners
    June 22, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Advanced Cascade Training: Creating Engaging Interior Pages
    July 12, 2 – 4 p.m.
  • Cascade Basic Training for Beginners
    July 18, 1 -3 p.m.
  • Advanced Cascade Training: Adding Multimedia to Your Pages
    July 20, 10 – 11 a.m.

All classes take place in Room 314, Woodruff Library, Electronic Classroom (across from the Jones Room). Register for the class on the Emory College Office of Communications website. Contact senior web producer Jill Hennecy with any questions about the training.
