College Evaluation and Merit Process

The Emory College of Arts & Sciences Faculty and Staff evaluation and merit process will open Friday, March 24, when the Online Faculty Activity Report System (OFARS) becomes available. Detailed evaluation documents will be distributed to chairs, director and lead staff April 7.

Upcoming deadline: Named chairs and award nominations are due April 24 from department chairs and program directors, which should be sent to ECASMerit@emory.edu.

"Teach-In on the Quad" this Friday

Learning the responsibilities of dialogue and reason that come with the right of free speech is the focus of an all-day "Teach-In on the Quad" this Friday, March 24. Organized by the Emory chapter of the American Association of University Professors, the event features panels and talks from scholars across disciplines, including both professors and students. All members of the Emory College community are invited to drop by at any time for the event which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of the Administration Building on the Quad.

Cascade Department Website Training

The Emory College Office of Communications will hold one more training session this semester for Arts & Sciences staff and faculty who maintain department websites:

  • Adding Multimedia to Your Pages: Cascade Advanced Training
    April 13, 10 a.m. to noon
    Room 314, Woodruff Library, Electronic Classroom (across from the Jones Room)

Register for the classes on the Emory College Office of Communications website. Contact senior web producer Jill Hennecy with any questions about the training.

Immigration Executive Order Updates

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and University administrators continue to monitor the status of presidential executive orders banning immigration from certain countries. The latest updates, resources and information are available to students and faculty on the ISSS website.

Canvas Migration

Faculty are reminded that they must migrate their course materials into Canvas before the summer. The University's Blackboard license will expire in August 2017 and all material currently stored on Blackboard will no longer be available. Community-Engaged Learning Grant Proposals Due March 31

The Center for Faculty Development and Excellence is seeking proposals for Community-Engaged Learning Grants, due Friday, March 31. Community-Engaged Learning Grants cover amounts up to $1500 and are intended to support both new or ongoing opportunities for faculty to incorporate community engaged learning (service-learning) into their courses or programs.

Heilbrun Distinguished Emeritus Fellowship Nominations Due April 4

Named in honor of Alfred B. Heilbrun, Jr., Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology, and funded through a generous gift from his family, this fellowship offers an opportunity for heightened engagement in research and scholarship, and plays an important role in supporting a vibrant Emeritus community.

All Arts and Sciences faculty who achieved emeritus status on or before Sept. 1, 2016 are welcome to apply. The program will support two fellowships in the amount of $10,000 each for a twelve-month term starting September 1. Each Fellow will be afforded exclusive use of a faculty carrel in the Woodruff Library.
